Rules & Regulations for Memberships
Membership:
1 Classification: The Society shall have the following classes of members
a) Life Members
b) Ordinary Members
c) Patron Members
d) Associate Members
e) Honorary Members
2 Qualification for Membership:
a) Life Members, Ordinary Members and Patron Members: All ex-students of General Education Academy, Chembur are eligible. Only these members carry voting rights and each member is entitled to one vote only.
b) Associate Members: Present and / or Retired Teaching Staff Members of School may be admitted as Associate Members. Associate Members shall not be entitled to vote and have no voice in the affairs of the Society.
c) Honorary Members: Any person distinguished in the educational, social and cultural field may be appointed as an Honorary Member. Honorary Members shall not be entitled to vote and have no voice in the affairs of the Society. Admission of Life Members, Patron Members and Ordinary Members will be made by the Managing Committee on receipt of an application. Admission of Associate Member and Honorary Members are by invitation of the Managing Committee only. The decision of the Managing Committee will be final.
3 Membership Fees:
a) Life Members : Rs. 1,000/- only at the time of admission, in case of members residing in India, and in the case of member residing outside India, Rs. 5,000/- only at the time of admission
b) Ordinary Members: One Time Entrance Fees of Rs. 251/- and Annual Subscription Fees of Rs. 100/- p.a., payable every year during the subsistence of their membership. One Time Entrance Fees is waived in the case of any member joining the Society within 6 years of passing the SSC exams
c) Patron Members: Contribution of Rs. 11,000/- or more at the time of admission to the membership of the Society. Life Members can also upgrade to Patrons member status at any time after paying the requisite additional fees.
d) Associate Members & Honorary Members: No subscription fees shall be charged to / from the Associate and Honorary Members.
4 Termination of Membership:
Membership of the Society will be terminated on
a)
In the case of an Ordinary Member, due to non-payment of yearly dues for more than Two years, inspite of Two reminders
c) Death of a member
d) Removal of a Member by the Managing Committee as provided hereunder:

Any member acting in a manner objectionable or contrary to the interests of the Society, or whose conduct has otherwise been improper, shall be called upon to resign his / her membership, failing which the Managing Committee by vote of three-fourths of members of the Managing Committee, shall remove the member from membership.

No such member shall be re-admitted except by a vote of two-thirds of the members present at any General Body Meeting, on a motion of which notice has been given to all the members.

Resignation shall be addressed to the General Secretary who will place the same before the Managing Committee.

No refund of subscription will be made on resignation / termination of Membership.
